GRC Trucks provide a large range of used commercial trucks to the international community. We have for you a short guide on the function of each truck listed on our website and the type of cargo each truck carries to help you find the best solution for your business.

1. Curtainsider Trucks

A curtainsider truck is a type of truck where the trailer is permanently attached to the chassis. It features ‘curtain’ sides for the easy loading and unloading of cargo when rear loading or docking isn’t achievable. Used curtainsider trucks are popular for hauling palletised cargo, furniture, white goods, electricals and even building materials.

2. Flatbed Trucks

Flatbed trucks have a permanently attached trailer with no roof and no sides. This provides room for materials too big for box trailers (or rigid trucks as they’re sometimes called). Used flatbed trucks are bought by our clients for transporting construction materials not affected by weather such as, steel girders, concrete tubes, and bricks. Bear in mind these types of trucks cannot carry fluids.

3. Rigid Trucks

A rigid truck is a box trailer permanently attached to the chassis. A rigid truck is capable of attaching a second trailer by use of a coupling. This is then called a semi-trailer. Used rigid trucks haul many different items from vegetables to contained liquids or even clothes. The walls of a rigid truck protects the cargo during transportation, which is why they are so popular.

4. Tipper Trucks

Tipper trucks feature a trailer which is permanently attached to the chassis. The trailer can lift up and release its payload without manual or mechanical handling. Used tipper trucks can be used in the agriculture and the construction industries as well as many others. Tipper trucks are good for transporting loose materials such as gravel, wood chippings and manure.

5. Tractor Units

Tractor units are vehicles where the forward cab and engine are not permanently attached to a trailer. Used tractor units are attached to a trailer instead, by a coupling at the rear. Tractor units are used to haul trailers with heavy cargo such as vehicles and industrial equipment. They are more manoeuvrable and carry heavier cargo than rigid trucks.

All of the above used trucks are available to buy from GRC trucks as we always have a good supply in.
